Urban mobility envisioned

The 15-minute city is an urban planning model in which residents have access within 15 minutes on foot or by bicycle to all essential functions such as shops, offices, schools, healthcare, sports and culture. Its implementation centers on densification, diversity of offer and a well-designed public realm.

For the Municipality of Veldhoven, the 15-minute city was an important source of inspiration in its exploration of the future of shopping centre City Centrum. During the writing of the exploration report, the municipality involved OID to illustrate, design and graphically lay out the report.

To clarify sometimes abstract urban-planning aspects, I created and integrated photographs, illustrations and infographics, aiming to make text, image and layout reinforce one another. I worked in close co-creation with a municipal project team and Marc Camps of Marcathing.

The exploration was presented to Veldhoven’s municipal council during an image-forming evening in July 2021.
