Interactive installations for DAF Museum

DAF has played a major role in Eindhoven’s industrial history since its founding in 1928. In Eindhoven, close to the current production site of truck manufacturer DAF, the DAF Museum presents an extensive collection tracing the company’s history. With the addition of a new wing in 2019, the museum also created space to present contemporary transport, technology and more recent developments.

Like many museums, the DAF Museum is exploring ways to engage a broader and younger audience. Interactive technology, educational content and more experiential presentation formats are increasingly part of that approach.

Exhibition design studio Pronk and digital design studio De Jongens van Boven were asked to develop concepts for interactive exhibition elements combining education and entertainment. Together with De Jongens van Boven, OID developed several interactive installations through which younger visitors could discover DAF and transport in an accessible and engaging way.

Roel Creemers, then Creative Director at De Jongens van Boven, described the chemistry of the collaboration as invaluable. He particularly valued OID’s ability to challenge concepts, generate new insights and use illustrations to make form and interaction tangible for the client.
